Have a few irons in the fire for another, but not sure if they'll come to fruition before the offer ends. If I jack in my job with nothing to walk straight into i'd be better keeping hold of £500.

That's not good about your job mate. Good luck with the potential new one.

Advertise your old ones on Gumtree or somewhere. there will always be someone who thinks they are good!!!

Thanks, I almost jacked it in on my 2nd day, but so far have gritted my teeth for 12 weeks, what I do is a bit specialised so opportunities don't come up very often. I have a technical test for a job next Friday.

If I could get £50-60 a piece for the Bridgestones then I would have that £500 spent on the PSS in an instant. One of the tyres has been repaired, maybe £30 for that one.

Consider me tempted. Might put an ad on gumtree to gauge the response. The Costco deal starts Monday.

Yeah I'm going to force myself to go for 2 new fronts from Costco this moth as the deal is on.
I just hate getting tyres due to the high probability of damage!!

I hate that when you only want 2 fronts they force the backs onto the front and you have to change them back.

Why's that? That's the sensible thing to do. It's most important to have your newest tyres on the back for grip. Plus your old rears will wear out faster on the front and you'll then have a nice matching set!

They make out that your car will be a deathtrap if you don't put the newest ones on the back, in most cases it will be a marginal difference if you are not taking your car to its limits.

Some might want to swap out their front Bridgestones on their GTI/GTD to prevent tramping. Some might have Pirelli P7s on their Scirocco that seem to get chewed up on the fronts but not the back. That was me - I didn't want to move my pristine P7s from the back to the front to suffer the same fate.

I'm running 2 x PSS on the front with bridgestones on the back, no issues car handles fine just hit 16k and the rears look good for a further 10k.  Previous owner fitted the fronts

I replaced all 4 tyres today and swapped over to Michelin PS3. When I took the car into the garage (who shall remain nameless) I went round all 4 wheels with the manager who agreed they were in pristine condition. I go to collect the car tonight and the manager comes out with me and we go round the wheels and I notice some marks that definitely weren't there before. Now I hold my hands up, I pointed it out to him and he kind of fobed me off saying that it's just a bit of residue and will wash off.

So I get back up the road tonight and have a closer look and to say I'm not happy is an understatement  . All 4 wheels have been scratched with different degrees of severity. Just wondering if anyone has had this sort of issue before and was there any compensation offered?

That is unbelievable.  I'd be back round there first thing tommorow.  Did you take any pics of the wheels when you dropped it off?

I had some damage (not on that scale) to one wheel inflicted by the twits at Kwikfit couple years ago.  Had a sudden puncture and no choice but to go there, as opposed to a decent place.  Had a quick look on collection but their workshop was so dark, couldn't see much.  Once out in the daylight noticed some gouges on the face of the wheel.  I contacted them but they were less than bothered, so took it up with their customer services, who took all the details but never got back to me.  The only reason I didn't pursue it further was the fact the wheel did have some minor kerb marks prior to the tyre fitting and I could see them wriggling out of it on that basis.  Will never go back there.

Those marks on yours are not the type of marks you get from kerbing and the fact they are present on the face of the wheels, on all 4 wheels, and the chap agreed your wheels were pristine prior to fitting, I should think you've got a strong case.  Some of those surface scratches should polish out, but I'd be asking them to pay for a full refurb of all 4 at a diamond cut specialist, of your choosing.  Was it an independent place or a chain?
