Having a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 fitted to my GTD tomorrow morning. Have ran them previously on a GTI and thought they were great. Should be a huge improvement on the OE Bridgestones.

Good choice. Great tyres. Very good ride and low noise levels.

I'd have been a lot happier if the chaps who fitted them hadn't used bright sliver wheel weights

The tyres feel great on the car though, super pointy and loads of grip. They're the difference between the GTD front end feeling a bit numb and aloof, and it feeling precise and giving enough feedback.

Best value tyre for the performance it provides.
Hope you got those with the revised blend of rubber:

Just had Conti 5s fitted on the front only and the difference is night and day.. Much more traction than the standard Bridgestones and the extra speed you can take into corners is night and day.
The Contis have everything you will ever need on the road from a performance tyre (haven't tested them in wet yet though! :))

Agree.  On a Mk6 I have found them to be very, very efficient in the wet (and dry), they've even handled snowy/slushy roads without any issues.

Decided against Eagle F1's mainly because they didn't impress me on my mk5....

Had two Dunlop SportMaxx RT fitted on the front yesterday at Halfords Autocentre in Brighton - have to say that despite the name they were very professional and got a nice compliment from them regarding my car - £172 the pair fitted.

So far they make a huge difference over the nasty Bridgestones.  Gonna run them for a couple of thousand miles and put them on the back and have a new set again for the front - the noise from the rear is noticeable now these are quiet as a mouse on the front - 68db.

The Goodyears have been updated constantly since the days of your Mk5.
They have also been recently updated with a new blend of rubber. They are superb tyres.
