Michelin PSS 18" 92Y tyres, F/A 71 dB rated, available for £98.12 delivered:

(Michelin PSS from National Tyres fully fitted for £136.70 each).

My VW dealer will fit and balance 4 tyres for £96 incl VAT. So it will be best to buy from Pneus and get them fitted by VW.

Total £96 + £392.48 = £488.48; which works out as £122.12 per tyre fully fitted.

If VW damage a wheel, then they will have to replace it.

Quite possibly.  The rears have got 6mm on, so could get away with it.

I've been trying to remember the sequence of tyre movements on the car, having lost track of what's gone where! :embarrassed:

Iirc, the replacement for the original fronts went on the rear (in March 2014), and the rears got swapped to the front, then had a replacement for a puncture on the front (other was repairable).  Ah, who knows!!!  I did have it all written down but can't find it at the moment.

Anyway the car's going in for it's 3rd service next week and I'll see what they measure the tread depths at and then decide.  But it's a good shout AndyG and could just well tide me over till Sept, Oct, Nov.......?

The only other thing that might sway things towards getting new ones is if I end up selling it privately, might make it a more attractive proposition  :undecided:

Take it easy......

Asker, shall I personally show you where you can put your crappy cobblestones, either still on the wheels or off, your choice

I knew being a diehard SQ would stand me in good stead at some point.  Any other junk you want to offload onto me darling

It's always a plus point getting them done at vw. You show them your untouched perfect wheels before and tell them you expect them back in the same condition. 100 a corner for 4 conti 5s is a good price and I'm happy now.
