Such impressive analytical detail!  You obviously have far too much time on your hands Asker   (I'm just jealous really).

You could tie yourself in knots going through every review and nver make a decision.  I'm still going for Michelin PSS's though (if change becomes necessary).  Might be a start to have an actual R first

I was lying on a couch on the balcony and instead of snoozing, looked through a few more reviews. Glad you have made a decision. But remember, PSS are p!ss in the wet!

What a life of sheer unabashed luxury you lead

P!ss or not in the wet.  I'll take my chances with the PSS over the Bridgestones any day of the week

Good + perfect choice.

The PSS is the safest bet IMO. None of the others is worth the risk with respect to noise, wear, handling, grip and ride. Some tyres start out great but deteriorate really badly within a few thousand miles. The PSS has been developed with Michelin's deep knowledge of Le Mans. It is the most consistently performing tyre throughout its life.

Mytyres have them at really good prices: fully fitted £112.60 each or not fitted £98.60 each. Black Circles have run out when I looked earlier. Also, VW will match prices pretty closely. A few pounds here or there is of no significant consequence.

I am almost probably going to change to PSS tyres if the noise problem is solely due to the S001 tyres and not due to a problem strut especially on the front passenger side as I am more aware of noise emanating from the front passenger foot well. Will be driving one or two Rs to compare when I get back. Besides, the Bridgestones ruin steering accuracy. Michelin PSS tyres will make the R and not break it like the Bridgestones.

The only issue I have with Michelins is they don't seem to be the top tyre in any category just a jack of all trades. Tyres seem to be very subjective for people and my problem if I can't make my mind up haha I was all set for Dunlop rt's then changed to conti 5's then I'm back to Dunlop's and now I just don't know.

I think there is some confusion on the wet weather performance here on the Michelin front, Pilot Super Sports get an A rating from memory in the size i have for wet weather performance and F for fuel, db rating is 71

Michelin Pilot Sport Cups 2s are the lesser wet weather performers

The super sports were excellent with no traction control and 350 on a wet track so good its laughable and at just over £100 notes a corner i don't mind burning through these

Depending on my conversation with DMack over some issues with their tyres a set of Sport Cup 2s may be going on for track work as they now appear in 225/40 fitment

My criteria is wet weather and dry weather performance, i don't really care less, on a 300+ car I'm not exactly two worried about the fuel economy

The SS are wearing well, after the initial thrashing they cleaned up and have been fine since, i also kept these on the R in winter and were fine except for sub zero days

What happened to "they are p!ss in the wet"

That's a great price.  Will be a bit pricier for me as they'll be 19s.  Assuming they are 235/35/R19 Y (91) then:

Mytyres £164/£150 each fitted/not fitted; Blackcircles £173/£156 fitted/not fitted; Camskill £143 not fitted.

I'm not rushing out to buy any just yet.  Strange as it may seem, I think I should at least wait until I have the car in my possession.  My R is still on unconfirmed build week 34 from today's dealer update.  Who knows, maybe between now and then, there will be some cosmic event and it will come shod with beautiful Conti 5s (I can dream).  The chances are they will not, and I will change the BS for PSS

Thanks for clarifying wigit.

It was partly your earlier posted thoughts on the PSS that swayed me in their favour.  Setting aside track specific c performance, my criteria for tyres is much the same as yours.  I'm not fussed about noise or mpg either.

The 19's are A rated for wet grip and E for fuel.  But £100 per corner??  Is that for 18's?

That's the problem I can't pick. I can get Dunlop, Goodyear, conti or Michelin and I'm leaving the conti 2's on the rears until they need doing. Both Dunlop and Goodyear are c rated for fuel while both the conti and Michelin are e for fuel. What's the better option?? Sensible answers please and I'm going tomorrow to try and get some.
