Clutch !!!!
« on: 16 November 2014, 19:20 »
I'm just wondering is anyone knows anything about this, 2 weeks ago I put a clutch in my 2.0 8v as the clutch plate had shatterd and the springs fell out, I put a new clutch in 2 weeks ago and today it has mangled another clutch disc?

Not being funny but if you dont know which way a clutch goes in then i would leave the job for a mechanic. Also which make clutch did you buy?
p.s you should get a new pressure plate (or whatever people call it now) with it

I'm not 100% but last time I bought one a few months ago you buy a kit. This comes with new pressure plate with bolts and a clutch. Follow the torque figures perfectly. I like to throw in an lower intermediate figure and torque in a opposites pattern. After this torque I tap round the pressure plate with a hide hammer to make sure everything is seated correctly before doing the final torque figure and then the 90 degrees.

A alignment tool helps but isn't needed, I do it by eye and then use some verniers to make it cantered.
