Is it possible to raise a ( 1996 ) GTI ?
« on: 13 November 2014, 11:25 »
   As you all know, the MK3 GTI is lowered 20 mm compared to a stock Golf Mk3

...But I do not want to have the car lowered 20 mm

Is it possible to raise the GTI in a simple manner to stock height ?

Replace it with stock non gti shocks and springs.
  Is this really possible ?
...I am thinking that the GTI has plus chassis and are wider.

I wouldn't recommend it. What you can do is buy the original springs for the car. Not cheap but you won't notice its' 20mmm lower then stock cars.

Does this look lowered to you? (new VW original springs):

As you know i "built" my to be strictly OEM (every small part). So this is how they look like. And here is the part.numbers (the rear springs you have to order from Volkskwagen classic parts):

It is as easy as swapping the parts over from non gti mk3.
As said get non gti shocks and springs and job done.

It's a 16v ABF GTI which are heavier then a normal 8v GTI. It has a Climatronic aswell. Not sure if standard springs works consider that.

What about van or caddy variant springs.
You might need new top mounts to go with them.
First thread on lifting a gti lol.
Time for 21inch rims with spinners to fill the gap.

Why would you want to do this out of interest?

Me too.

Make it look worse, handle worse, and pay more for insurance for the priviledge. I'm sure you have your reason, just curious.
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.
