Should definitely be a very noticeable difference in sound when the engine is set to Sport. It's a lot louder and throatier in high revs.

It may be a problem with your sound actuator. Is it loud in both modes or  quiet?

Was you stationary when changing modes..?
Im sure I remember reading somewhere you need to be stationary for a mode change to take effect...??

I posted something similar a few months ago, I ran the car in ECO for a steady drive just to see what mpg I could achieve, when I put it back in Sport I was convinced that the noise was not as loud as previous, there is a difference but not as before.

It was checked and road tested at 1st service and I was informed it was OK, I am not convinced, was going to take it in and demand to see it hooked up to the diag and ensure the default setting for the actuator is 100% but have not got around to it yet (its the wifes car and only gets taken out on rare occaisions and not in the wet!, 3,000 miles in 15 months, its currently sat in the garage after detailing and I am reluctant to get it covered in crap yet!)

Maybe I should have a quick drive in one from the showroom, I am just the other side of 50 but am sure my hearing is still sharp enough to detect that that deep sound has not returned!

Thanks for all your replies !!!  ( Mr Savage ,Remlapeel,kenny.C,p3asa+Dully ) The difference  in sound was Most noticeable in Manual Mode(dsg) while Driving and off acceleration while coming to a stop ( eg 2nd gear low in rev range ).I knew i  was in sport mode with that Initial loudness   .Now when I switch between  Normal to Sport there is no change in Sound . While driving in both modes the sound overall is Lower ..Is it possible for a member  to try this ......??????  Thanks Again
