New Drivers Seat
« on: 11 November 2014, 19:19 »
Advice needed please. I want to replace the drivers seat on my GTD. After 4 months of uncomfortable ownership its either a new seat or a new car. Anyone know if other seats from VW or Audi are compatible ? Thanks

Not as easy anymore.... think about airbags etc

What seats have you got?
You might be able to fit ergo active seats as they are used on the mk7

Standard leather mk7 GTD seats . Yeah I forgot about airbags. Are they in the seats too ?

Yes, airbags in the seats....

How do you find the seat uncomfortable... I got a GT estate with sports seats and alcantara, so comfortable that I didn't fork out for ergo seats.

So you have leather seats and they're uncomfortable? Could it be just the leather aspect that's making them uncomfortable? Have a test drive in a GTD with cloth seats, and if you prefer them, put a post out for a straight swap with someone who's got a newish GTD that wished they'd got leather, and ask for some money off them for the difference (maybe a grand?).

Have you adjusted the seat for lumbar etc?
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

The problem I am having with the seats is the shape of the upper side bolsters. They come all the way to the top so my shoulders basically sit on top of them , ie my shoulders are too wide to fit within them so i cant sit back in the chair.
I test drove an S3 the other day and the upper side bolsters flatten out at the top so i can sit with my shoulders back on the chair. I think I have decided to get an S3 or M235i to be honest as I want more power too , lol .   Dangerous things these test drives !
Thanks for your advice guys
