Car going in today........
« on: 11 November 2014, 08:58 »
Well, having had a chat with my servicing dealer (not the supplying dealer) about a few minor issues with my Nav Pro since I've had it (locked up half a dozen times since new, and DAB media information no longer being received - which it did when new), they have asked me to drop the car off to them today and they will perform a software update on the [5F] information electronics module to flash it to the latest firmware (I'm currently running an old 0179 firmware).

According to them (at least), they have done this on a couple of 2013 builds with minor glitches in the infotainment system and apparently it sorted them out. TBH, I'm not overly hopeful anything will change, so long as it's no worse. The lock-ups are so infrequent that I almost forgot about them. They said it will take about 2-3 hours in total.

I'll let you know tomorrow what happened and if it has any positive effect.

Do you know if this is just an update for Nav Pro systems or all CMS systems?

I dont have any major issues - just notice that the picture in the mp3 files doesnt always show when you start the car up.  If you switch to next track and back again the image shows.  Doesnt always do it either.  Just a minor annoyance but would be good to get resolved if there is a FW update.

The media systems though improved and moving in the right direction, still have a long way to go in ease of integrations, screen quality and the user interface especially when consider the price paying would purchase you a pretty decent home media system.

Mine goes in tonight for same problems.
Though mine only stops working when its really cold and the car is iced up, which is a bit of a problem when you have the climate windscreen, and can't turn it on, as it's operated through media screen, so a total waste of money so far, in the last year the car has been frozen no more than half a dozen times, and each time I've been unable to use the climate windscreen !
If was to spec the car again, I'd ditch the nav pro, climate windscreen and advanced phone prep - which again is a total waste of time.

I know its not the solution but if you leave the climate screen on it works a charm (no need to turn on/off)
If you press the max front screen (physical) button I think it comes an also to assist.

The Climate screen is set to automatic, but that doesn't seem to work either, so I have to manually turn it on.
Hopefully they can fix that as well

Had my Navpro updated recently after a couple of lock ups and after inputting a new route it would always want to go home - displaying Wolfsburg rather than the asked for route. I was on software version 0192 and now its on 0200.
So far no problems but not really used it enough to say it fixed

On my 2013 car I had a lot of lock up issues with audio on 0192 some time ago, and my dealer updated it to 0200.

Since then there has only been one further "lock up".  I have never had the "Germany" map location issue, but so far apart from one further lock up all has been well. I remember from an AutoExpress article some time ago that some Skoda Octavia owners with similar systems have had this issue with lost location, and I think there is a work around - but I can't remember the details.

Well, just heard back from the dealer and to be honest, today was a bit of a wast of time.

they had the car in, looked for fault codes (which there were none), and wrote a report to VW headquarters requesting a Nav update under warranty. Whilst they are pretty much 100% certain it will be a no brainer as far as getting authorisation goes, it can take a couple of days, so they are dropping the car back off to me tonight in exactly the same condition I dropped it off in !

They will then call me in a few days when they get authorization from VW and I need to book it in again. What a palarva !

BTW, I also occasionally get the Wolfsberg syndrome when starting navigation but only when Auto zoom is set to off. If iI set it to on, it immediately zooms into my current location ?
