Car no workee

Just a question: my car is just over 12 months old and the battery has started to play up big time. It's booked in for its annual service but is the battery covered under warranty or is it a wear and tear item. VW assist cover has just finished and I'm relying on my other breakdown cover now  :angry:

That battery probably has 3 years warranty on it, decent make batteries bought privately do. I'd only expect interior trim, tyres, brake pads, brake discs, wipers and clutches to be subject to wear and tear with a shorter warranty. Best to ask at a dealership and if they say no then try another (because some don't know their arse from their elbow). I've had warranty work at one dealer refused before and granted with anothre (MK5 Wheel white-worm).

Interesting......Im having a on going battery charge level issue....

On a long run it will get to 90% then after parking over night it drops to 50-60%...its going in for a service in a couple of weeks they claim they are going to "look" at it.

My car is also 1 year old...

Interesting.
Not good news. The VW assist guy said they have special dry cell batteries owing to the stop start system.
I also noticed my boot light no longer works so am wondering if the two faults are related.

I'd say that's more likely they'd get warrantied, if it's a specialist battery tied to the stop-start system. I'd have thought the GTI would put less of a strain on the battery than a GTD under normal circumstances. On a long run or coming to the end of a journey 1/2 way through a DPF regen, the cooling system can be blaring away for a good 8 mins after journey's end.
