Oil light

Hhhm noticed my oil light has started to flash. doesnt appear to be at idle (low oil pressure?) but completely intermittent. Engines only on 74k

Just had a flush and new oil and filter so I know thats OK.

Is this a common gremlin?? Advice please, but loathed to drive it at the mo.

Justin mine is exactly the same, has been getting worse for 4 months or so. Fine at 1k or over, but at idle when warm the oil light will come on.

I think it might be the pump, maybe a blockage that means at low revs the pressure isnt high enough for oil to flow round?

maybe some of the resident experts might know more..  :angry:

mine is on all the time but my oil presure gauge say the presure is fine. this is a pretty common fault

sounds similar to a problem i have with my gti. See my cab starting probs thread. my problem seems equally random, and only occurs on start up.

Right, ive replaced the oil pressure switch.

Seemed to be better but now the oil pressure light comes on when the engine is warmed up and has been idling for 5 mins. It comes on at idle, blip the throttle and it goes, comes back occasionally.....????

Put a bit more oil in and that seems to have helped a little.

Tried disconnecting both pressure switches, the one in the head and the one on the pump when the pressure light flashes and it continues to flash??? help!!!!!!
