Hmmm....Work to do
« on: 03 November 2014, 12:46 »
Hmmm...Just found out I need a new manifold and the front pads are ready for a change...£700!

I could change the pads myself I guess (although never done before, and save myself £130).

There's never a good time to spend £700 on something you don't see.

Regards,

Mart

Intake manifold? What's up with it?

If you've got a jack then front pads are easy and worth doing yourself to save the money. Haven't got round to doing mine yet but I've got new front discs and pads waiting to go on. Discs are brembos and were £99 for the pair from GSFcarparts. Pads are Textar which I've heard good things about and were £30 from eurocarparts.

Unless your car has thrown an error code or you get getting really bad MPG how do you know you need a new intake manifold?

Its usually only the flap that goes in them, you can get a new / user manifold from a scrap yard or ebay and pay £150 to have it fitted.

Dealers are having your pants down mate. PS - Front brakes are super easy to change mate.

Hi, Yep, it was the black intake manifold. The little flaps were moving on their own as the spindle had snapped at the end and they were just doing their own thing!!

They showed me the part when it was off.

The MPG was terrible all of a when it was like that (seems to be ok now I think), and there was a fault on the dash.
