Wheel spacers
« on: 31 October 2014, 22:57 »
Hi, I'm looking into getting some wheel spacers for my GTI 16v, it's got standard BBS wheels on and am just looking for that wider stance look. Which size spacers should I be going for? It's on eibach springs which are slightly lower than standard but not a lot, might look into a set of coil overs next too.  Any help appreciated

You should be able to see by looking at it. My car is dropped 30mm on Eibachs, and I don't think I would go more than 5mm. The car was on coilovers when I bought it and scraped round corners. So I wouldn't have spaced at all on coilys.

I'm not the most experiences with it, but I would say BBS RAs probably won't look too great spaced anyway, they are too narrow IMO. Maybe 5mm, as said.
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

Hi, Welcome to the forum...
I'm guessing that your wheels are BBS "RA's"  I run 10mm spacers all round with no problems, I did try doubling up on the rears to 20mm but found that outer tire walls scrubbed lightly when 4 up, and getting over speed bumps etc, so reverted to the 10mm set up, which gives a nice subtle look...
I run 185 60 14 Dunlops on standard 16v springs, and have no clearance problems with the 10mm spacers.

Thanks for the welcome and the replays, tom89 do you have any pictures of your car with the 10mm spacers? I did wonder if they would look two skinny. I do have a set of G60 steels also but I think there the same width.
