Banned from driving?

Is it possible to be banned for driving in a public place but on privately owned land? Stupid thing to do but not sure how the ban happened as I know lots of people drive recklessly on private land.

That's the catch though, it's a public road.  My missus was banned for drunk in charge after falling asleep in her car at Butlins.  The police were called after an assault, and saw her asleep in the car.  Stupid of her but she didnt really do anything wrong.  Her friend had passed out in their room with the key.  Long story short they said as it was a public road so was therefore subject to road traffic laws.

If the general public have access, it's a public road, regardless of who owns it. It needs to be gated off etc to be classed as "private land, do what you want"

- Donuts in Asda car park - Bad.
- Donuts in your back garden - Good. (Well, as long as you don't breach your asbo)
It's a mk2. Fill it, drive it, enjoy it.

Road Traffic Act applies wherever you are in the UK, even in your back garden.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

Might tip the fuzz off about Silverstone then...

Try Google before issuing smart-arse answers:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/contents

Sections 1-3 are suspended if it's an authorised motoring event.  The rest of it applies and applies wherever you are.

Not true.

Must have public access.

Plus, if it was only in public access spaces, why do I need a permit to run any motor sport event which is held on private land?
