« on: 31 October 2014, 17:44 »
hi evryone , hope someone can advise , just got my golf back from garage and looks like i have an internal oil leak as my oil warning light has been on for a while even when i topped up the oil. im loosing oil and apartly its in my turbo. Is it worth getting a new trubo for a 2001 golf with only 72000 on the clock or get a recon turbo?? also any ideas wheres the best place to get one that someone would recomend near dorset??  have tried searching forum no luck. thanks

It all depends on the condition really, but even then, that isn't a good way to tell, there are a fair few people on this forum that have bought a second hand turbo, and it's been fine, then 2 months down the line it goes, then there are also others who have bought a second hand turbo and it's been fine for the rest of their golf's lifetime.

So really it's up to you, and how much you want to spend, but ideally just buy a cheap turbo then just get it reconditioned

just get yours reconditioned be about £250 ish (if its a K03s)
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)
