GPS Time & Summer DST setting
« on: 26 October 2014, 19:54 »
All,

Have your GTIs updated the time last night to 1 hour behind (fall time)?

I thought the clock would update automatically if the Summer (DST) option is ticked on the Infotainment system?

I have the GPS as the  source for the clock and the Summer DST option ticked but today when I started the engine, the clock was showing 15:30 but the actual time was 14:30. After unticking the Summer DST option, the clock changed automatically to 14:30 which was the correct time. By ticking the box again, it would go to 15:30 again so left it unticked at the moment.

Had a quick look in the Discover Media manual and it states that:

Automatic summer time:  the time will adjust automatically.

Am I missing something here or I've got an issue with mine? Has anybody else noticed the above?

Changed mine manually too, it took about 10 seconds all in to navigate the menus, not a bother.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

It doesn't auto update. You've got a check box for summer time which needs to be unticked for the clocks going back. It's not difficult! The gps function only keeps the time correct and has nothing to do with summer/winter time.

Pity it doesn't pick up the time via RDS like most cars as it would then change automatically.

Yeah, I have found a topic on the other mk7 forum which explains it. It seems only for Nav Pro it updates automatically, for the normal Discover Nav you have to tick the box twice a year.

It isn't difficult no but since my old 1.2 Corsa used to auto update then you'd think a £30,000 2013 Volkswagen would do the same. It's not difficult for VW to make it auto update, especially since it has more tech inside it than PC World.

A chap from Switzerland claimed on the other forum that his Nav Pro updates automatically, but guess it wasn't true.

Would be interesting to see what he has ticked in nav pro options for his to update automatically. It's maybe another feature that we don't get in the UK
