i'll have the timing belt checked. I know it was changed no more than 10k miles ago. Do you mean timing belt or timing chain? Or is that the same? English isnt my mothers tongue, so im pretty sure we mean the same thing. But a timing belt, is that the one also running the water pump, that needs changing once in a while since it will fok up the engine, if it snaps? Or is that another one? Oh, and can the timing belt go out of wack by itself?

Hey fella - dont worry your english is fine
The ABF has 2 cams, first one driven by timing belt & the second by a chain off of the first cam.
The timing belt can jump a tooth and really change how the engine runs - the tensioner may faulty, not fitted correctly or the belt has been fitted wrong.

Thanks a lot.

I used google translate to help me with the timing belt, and it is the same one as i had in my head. OK then. I think i'll have a vagcom readout, and have someone check the timing belt for me. I may know a lot about cars in theory, but i think i'll leave the timing belt to the professionals.
