If the door has been forced open too far, it's either bent a hinge or worse still, the A pillar where the hinge bolts on.
To bring the door in where it is gapping, you can adjust the striker loop on the B pillar by loosening the torx bolts, moving it further in then re-tightening. This will help with the wind noise and water ingress, but will probably need a good shove to close the door due to whatever has got twisted.
Hindsight I know, and this was not the case here, but I'd never stop if I was waved down. Even on a motorway, it's all too easy for someone to jump in your car, rev up and feck off.
