Temperature Gauge
« on: 12 October 2014, 11:53 »
I drove round the M25 to Gatwick this morning and my temperature gauge remained in between 60 and 70 degrees all the way. It did briefly rise to 90 while sitting still. I take it this behaviour is abnormal and that the gauge should sit mid-way at 90 most of the time. At the moment I am suspecting a thermostat stuck in the open position. The car seems slow to warm up and mists up easily.

Sorry about the blurry photo taken by my passenger - anyone got any suggestions? This is the gauge for most of the journey. Obviously I am taking it back to the dealer!

Definitely something wrong there. My GTD takes 4 miles for the water to get to 90, and another 5 or 6 for the oil to get there. Was your oil getting up to 90C? Back to the dealers for sure.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Thanks! Never thought to check the oil temp. I suppose if that was low as well, that would point to the thermostat being stuck open.

Suffering exactly the same problem as you Doug. Looks like there's a common fault developing.

See my post from last week:

Calling the dealer tomorrow.

Will post update once they've taken a look.

Doug,

Check that there's water in the system... I'm sure there is as the car would complain if there wasn't...

If not it is either the sender for the temp gauge or the thermostat stuck open...
