Condensation in new R lights
« on: 11 October 2014, 15:49 »
I fitted my brand new genuine R rear lights today. After fitting I washed my car. I've noticed slight condensation in one of the lights. It's where the indictor is. I've checked the seals and it looks ok. Anyone else have this issue? Will it correct it self?

Any info will be much appreciated

Are you sure its in the light, not just in the overlap lip at the bottom?

It's the light. It's gone now so I'm hoping it stays gone but it'll probably be a reoccurring issue but we'll see. At least the moisture is getting out somehow.

I've emailed the supplier so I'll see if a replacement is offered and just monitor it for now.

Shouldn't have any condensation, are they definitely genuine?

There definitely genuine. I've contacted the supplier and it looks like I'm getting a replacement. The condensation has now disappeared but like you say, it'll return so the unit needs changing so hopefully that will happen.

Who did you get your lights from?

I have standard front and rear lights but am thinking about upgrading the front ones (are the R lights xenon?) and the rear ones to LEDs.

Did you have standard front lights? Did you get any errors after installing the new ones?

Euro stores on ebay. They sell genuine vag parts. I paid £495 for the rear lights. They came in the genuine vag packaging and with genuine adapters. They sell the R headlights but there £1700 or there abouts.

When fitting the led version lights you need to code them in to your car.

.:R lights are xenon and if you had the option 19" wheels, you also got black headlights. I'm not sure if this was the case with the later LED DRL's, but it was with the early ones.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
