I see APR have released their R map http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_upgrade_20tsi_gen3_mqb_r.html

380bhp and 386lb/ft (thats 523nm!) so if the figures are true thats gonna be a rapid car! Certainly knocks Revo's out of the water but i've always thought Revo's torque was way too low for some reason I cannot fathom why.

I've heard from a few people I know (who still have decent connections in the VW world) that the APR beta testing UK car was having the crap hammered out of it in 'testing' and bits were published all over the internet about it; then suddenly the car had a bit of engine trouble and VW turned around and said "tough, cough up the cash if you want it fixed"
So maybe that's why REVO who are normally one of the more 'pushing the envelope' tuners reined theirs in a little in the power stakes.
Internet hearsay I know and how much truth there is in it I have no idea but the vids of the APR car were very quickly pulled off the net last I heard.

Internet hearsay as well but it seems APR are going through quite a few turbos... I don't think our new ihis are not a rugged as the old ko4s

The torque is incredibly high on all of APR's tunes. It spikes very sharp early on too.

The turbos in the US were already having issues as they did a recall on certain revisions! Strangely enough we seem to have the exact same turbo part numbers but a recall never happened on them in Europe.

I know APR are working on a BI Turbo for stage 3. Think I'll be upgrading to the larger turbo once it's released.

Not quite sure what you're trying to say there wigit, bit fragmented but if you're saying it's pointless then I shall soon find out and if not, then every bit helps

having had two fwd 300bhp cars where i have chucked lots at cash at them to handle the power and torque they always remain flawed especially now having the R, people will say once on the move fwd comes into its on but mine used to flash the esp in the first four gears

I see APR have released their R map http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_upgrade_20tsi_gen3_mqb_r.html

thank god revo only focus on what they do and not others and chase the numbers game, all about drivability these days, do i feel stage 1 revo is lacking, err no, could they have extracted more power/torque, yes they did in development but reigned it in for reliability purposes, i've done the upgraded clutch on manual cars and in reality got fed up of them as a pita in traffic

Internet hearsay as well but it seems APR are going through quite a few turbos... I don't think our new ihis are not a rugged as the old ko4s

a few of these have been going but not the numbers you'd expect and seemed to be the very early cars, fortunately my early R was a loaner

interestingly the APR beta car at Crail which was doing the rounds would appear to have turbo issues given the thread on psitonheads and the editing of posts on R forum

I like to think the mk7 handles it better than my Leon did but I'll admit that any more power will be a bit of a waste. I used to spin in third but not since I got rid of my bridgestones. A bit more torque from revo wouldn't go amiss tho surely, it makes less nm than Aprs Gti map, turbo survival dependant obviously. Be interesting to see what they do for stage 2s tho

the old IHI TSI on the Rocco and Mk6GTI made more torque than KO4 cars so nothing new and was why it killed clutches

all the power in the R is above 5k anyway so i just drive a car properly and change down a gear to keep it on the boil and actually why with a dsg in manual mode i find it more fun and engaging

i know how far pushed the boost on these during development with their car as was discussing it today, yes was rapid but they did not want the land of broken cars

tuners can't win as everyone used to say their stuff was too aggressive and not they say its not enough

The Bridgestones do play a massive part on the GTI, especially at Stage 1. They really hate this winter weather too. When I went Stage 1 when the weather was warmer the tyres were okay, not great but okay. Ever since the lower temperatures arrived though it's really made me have to be careful and very progressive with the accelerator to avoid traction control kicking in like mad.

I managed to get wheelhop in 3rd gear the other day driving at 40mph, work that one out...

i see Revo have released their 1.8tsi remap, looks like GTI performance at probably less weight, wonder what APR's will be as they have a video out of their 1.8 A3 beating mk6 R's etc...
