Could always just get a panel filter. And I don't think the non pp will be too much trouble with stage 1. I doubt it will stop vrs owners mapping you know

Paul70      I have a pipercross panel filter, forge intercooler and GFB DV+ valve, altogether it pulls through the rev range well and the throttle response is soooooo much better. Just waiting for Revo stage2 or possibly the AMD tune (also possible VWR enclosed intake) to take full advantage of the mods.
Old, but a serial modder!

Sorry Greg!

Thanks for the quick response gents. Interesting point regarding the intake.

I will get the car mapped but just want to wait until the aftermarket diffs are available as traction even in standard tune is a problem with the OEM tyres, especially as the weather is turning and the bridgestones do not like the cold. I was in a bit of a hurry when I got the car and it was a cancelled order - it is the standard one without the diff

Tornado8 - do you have any other mods as well as the DP? Can you feel the difference more in the upper range? The tail off of pwer is one of my main frustrations with the car!

Has anyone tried making the stock airbox to be more efficient - I was think about sealing the air vent at the rear on the entry to the standard air tunnel for more air is forced into the airbox but not sure if this will affect the cooling of the engine - I'm sure the vent at the back of the air tunnel allows air into the engine bay for some design reason. I'm new to turbo cars and perhaps this will make no difference. I know small mods (smoothing the rough edges) to the airbox on my previous civic made a difference.

Paul.
A friend of mine runs a DTUK box on his company GTI and that doesn't have a PP Diff. You won't need a diff to run stage 1 as the MQB chassis is very competent.
I'd not bother putting any additional mods such as a filter or a DP on a non re-mapped (or tuning box equipped) car as it would gain you nothing and if anything possibly lose performance as far as the DP goes if the ECU decides to wind everything back.
Stage 1 first and everything else afterwards.

What's your reason for selling if you don't mind me asking?

Guys just a quick question, would I be better off removing my DTUK FSR box before my Gti PP goes in for its 1st Oil change next week?

Thoughts

Not at all. Basically the box is programmed to work with a standard car at stage 1 or stage 2 with a downpipe. Considering I will be adding a few more bits to the car it needs a custom remap to account for them all and take full advantage. So ill be going to shark to get that done. So the box will be gathering dust in my boot so might as well flog it.

And yes I'd take it off for a service.

Definitely.

The box might not throw up any TD1 flags to let VW know you've been using a box, buut then why go and leave it in plain sight? The dealer may not care enough to inform VW when they see it, but if they do then engine/turbo/clutch/flywheel parts of your warranty will be adversely affected if something goes wrong later that they could attribute the box to as a contributory factor. For the sake of a fiddly hour's work to have it off and back on again i'd remove it.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Monkeyhanger, you have a fair point, and I would have taken it off anyway as I dont want to get bitten in the ar$e if something does crop up and they turn round and blame the DTUK box, so better safe then sorry
