Sorry Greg!
Thanks for the quick response gents. Interesting point regarding the intake.
I will get the car mapped but just want to wait until the aftermarket diffs are available as traction even in standard tune is a problem with the OEM tyres, especially as the weather is turning and the bridgestones do not like the cold. I was in a bit of a hurry when I got the car and it was a cancelled order - it is the standard one without the diff
Tornado8 - do you have any other mods as well as the DP? Can you feel the difference more in the upper range? The tail off of pwer is one of my main frustrations with the car!
Has anyone tried making the stock airbox to be more efficient - I was think about sealing the air vent at the rear on the entry to the standard air tunnel for more air is forced into the airbox but not sure if this will affect the cooling of the engine - I'm sure the vent at the back of the air tunnel allows air into the engine bay for some design reason. I'm new to turbo cars and perhaps this will make no difference. I know small mods (smoothing the rough edges) to the airbox on my previous civic made a difference.
Paul.
A friend of mine runs a DTUK box on his company GTI and that doesn't have a PP Diff. You won't need a diff to run stage 1 as the MQB chassis is very competent.
I'd not bother putting any additional mods such as a filter or a DP on a non re-mapped (or tuning box equipped) car as it would gain you nothing and if anything possibly lose performance as far as the DP goes if the ECU decides to wind everything back.
Stage 1 first and everything else afterwards.
