we have one problem with that.... car goes for intercooler and remap 1st nov... unless I take up the mantle to fit this myself i will never be able to tell the difference, aww feck it, if it comes before 1st ill go the local greasemonkey and chuck him a crate of beer to fit it and let you know
Looking at where it goes it'll be a fiddly fecker to fit! Best get a greasemonkey on the case!

Well update for you, email from supplier saying due to demand they are unable to ship me the product, that plus the instructions being taken down from aprs website makes me wonder if they've realised only an idiot would buy this and have cancelled production lol

Hi All

Brand new to this forum and after some expert advice. I've had my car around 8 months and it's time for the mods to begin.

First car was a MK1 campaign form 1984 in helios blue with the pirelli wheels and have spent the last 8 years in family hack hell but was really impressed driving the MK7 - a great improvement on the MK6 I test drove.

First mods will be an intake and downpipe.

I need your view on the APR carbon intake vs the Revo one (looking for function over looks). The APR one gets my vote but I'm really concerned on spending that much money and it not being functional. The reason I state this is I had a Gruppe M intake for a Civic Type R many years ago and the scoop collected air from the top of the bonnet and was positioned in the bulkhead, however looking at where the APR intake is positioned I do not understand where the airflows from as the plastic trim does not have any holes in and even if it did have holes I cannot see how the air could get in when the bonnet is sealed. On the opposite side of the engine where the standard airbox gets its air from there are holes in the plastic trim and also slotted holes in the front grille trim for the air to pass through so it would be great if someone explains how the air is directed into the APR intake? Presume you have to cut holes in the trim and also in the top of the grill section.

Regarding the downpipe. It seems that only BCS offer one that connects to the standard system and there was a good thread on the Vortex forum listed by some Italian guy. Does anyone have the BCS downpipe fitted? Are they happy with the results? What about running these mods without a remap - does the ECU compensate for running an intake and a DP. Do not want to lean the A/F too much.

Appreciate the feedback.

Hi Paul, are you asking how does air go from the left of the car where the holes are to the right of the car where it's blocked up? Doesn't the Apr one get rid of the standard air tunnel thing and bolt straight to the bonnet? I'll have to have a look but without the standard air tunnel the holes are on both sides. Strangely I have revo one (for arguments sake it's actually pipercross) but was advised to keep my air tunnel in place by the garage that fitted it, but when it gets tuned ill ask if they can run a dyno with it on and off to see which is better.

I have the full BCS system and for clarity I think milteks dp will also fit, but i wouldn't swap my powervalve for the world. I also thought Greg just lived in Italy lol.

Or ask millsy if his dp fit with oem catbacks.

Ok just Google revo intake and aprs. So revo picture shows tunnel in place but aprs removes it and in doing so opens up the other side too

Hi Paul regarding The BCS Downpipe I have it installed and is high quality and works really well. The throttle response is better and the sound is throaty, but not intrusive, especially as I had the sound actuator turned down to zero. There is more power but I can't quantify it.
Old, but a serial modder!

That's what I meant to say. Don't get an intake if you're not mapping your car, dyno plots say I'm actually 10bhp down now so the standard box and oem ecu setting are finely tuned, too much air and it messes it up! Also, if I was back in the market id wait to see how well vwrs new enclosed system performs cos that looks sick

Sorry Greg!

Thanks for the quick response gents. Interesting point regarding the intake.

I will get the car mapped but just want to wait until the aftermarket diffs are available as traction even in standard tune is a problem with the OEM tyres, especially as the weather is turning and the bridgestones do not like the cold. I was in a bit of a hurry when I got the car and it was a cancelled order - it is the standard one without the diff

Tornado8 - do you have any other mods as well as the DP? Can you feel the difference more in the upper range? The tail off of pwer is one of my main frustrations with the car!

Has anyone tried making the stock airbox to be more efficient - I was think about sealing the air vent at the rear on the entry to the standard air tunnel for more air is forced into the airbox but not sure if this will affect the cooling of the engine - I'm sure the vent at the back of the air tunnel allows air into the engine bay for some design reason. I'm new to turbo cars and perhaps this will make no difference. I know small mods (smoothing the rough edges) to the airbox on my previous civic made a difference.

Paul.
