Same steering wheel and speedo clocks as the GTI. I don't really like the center console but love those oil and turbo pressure gauges.

Yea I agree, those clocks would look good on a golf have more of a purpose then on a 1.4. The centre console is more like a mk5

The R has the frontal styling of the pre-facelift Scirocco!

That's because the Scirroco is from the Mk5 era. It's basically been facelifted to drag the old car out for a bit longer.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I had a white .:R follow me the other day. I can't say that it looked anything special. Only those that know will notice it, but I guess that's a good thing.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Steering wheel has a conspicuous lack of buttons

The Scirocco is in serious need of a complete redesign IMO, not just a facelift to stretch out the life of the current shape. People buy them in their droves though!
