Just to ask if anyone has had issues with the reversing camera images not displaying on the screen when
reverse is selected ? Its a factory fitted badge camera and not a retro fit.
The badge opens up and the camera lens opens up and is recognised by the head unit screen but the screen image is black and with no photo picture for just a couple of seconds before reverting back either to maps or media radio screens.
Vw dealer said it may need software update but after having had it in for an hour at the end of the afternoon they claimed the wifi in the garage failed before completing the update and needed it back again ...!
My local no dealer garage plugged into to diagnostics but could not pinpoint exactly where the fault may be as shown as maybe wiring or camera head fail. Surely there must be a way of finding out where the fault is occurring without the cost of buying a new badge camera unit to then find out it may be elsewhere in the wiring loom.
Reading the water drainage is poor on the inside of the badge meaning could be a wiring failure due to water and age ( 59 plate ) and looking at the full genuine VW badge camera kit replacement cost of £425 + just thought of asking if anyone might have had similar issues and be able to offer advice...?
