Loss of Coolant
« on: 02 October 2014, 12:22 »
Hi Folks,

Went to start the car this morning (5.5c - coldest yet this year). The temp light flashed with stop. I checked the bottle and the coolant was pretty low. Topped it up and started it up and no problems.

Question is - I cant see any visbale leaks. no smoke, no runnig issues, etc. Cam belt and water pump changed a year ago next month.

Any suggestions on small places where a leak may not be so visable. Have this on a car before and turned out to be nothing, and just wondering if maybe air trapped in the system got out and took a gulp of coolant?

MK4 AUQ

Thanks
Liam

Just get underneath and look at the back of the block, it could be the banjo feed to the block (its on the right hand side as you are on your back)

Just look for a crusty red/orange residue anywhere (dried coolant)
