Odd things about the Golf
« on: 01 October 2014, 13:18 »
The headlight beam bend doesn't work in Eco mode (who drives in Eco mode I hear )

The turn assist light (beside the fog light) doesn't work in Eco either

You cannot turn off the rear parking sensors (perhaps a fall back from when they offered rear cameras) even when you think you have.

Finally, you noticed how the centre (hub) of the wheels rust. "Its on all cars" apparently - well except the other marques Ive looked at.

The headlight beam bend and turn assist is not active in Eco to save power and therefore fuel

What do you mean by turn off the rear park sensors? Why would you want to?

In my experience, Volvo XC90, Golf GTI MK5, Porsche Boxster and Cayenne and some others along the way, the brake discs all 'rusted' in the wet. Drive in the dry for 5 minutes and that soon rubs off. Is this what you meant by the hub?

No he does not mean rust on the friction surface of the brake disc.... he means the hub, i.e. the thing that the discs are bolted too....

My rear hubs rust too.... and have for a long time (the car is not a bit over 10 months old).

In 11 months I've never even tried Eco mode.
Surely the fuel savings just by cutting out bits of electrical functionality would be so minimal it would almost be insignificant unless you were down to you last two millilitres of fuel and the nearest pump was a mile away?

Every time i've used ECO in the GTI and the R i've got worse fuel economy (indicated) than any other mode, it's definatley the smoothest mode but also feels the most sluggish.

Strange, my hubs have been painted silver and look totally different from the Mk6
In fact the Mk6 hubs were rusting when I picked it up. I doubt very much if the Mk7's on mine will rust.

When the car was new I'd activated the ACC and the car didn't seem to accelerate when I kept pressing the add speed button. Then I pressed the set button and found myself accelerating very quickly towards 100mph!
