Stuck in 4th

Hey wondering if anyone can help with this or had a similar problem, since yesterday my 4th gear keeps sticking all the other gears seem okay and are quite smooth but with 4th I'm having to really force it out and it isn't pleasant so I've been just missing the gear today any ideas of what could be causing this? On another note I have been hearing like a rattling sound but I thought it may just be a hole In the exhaust as that's what it sounds like but I don't know if these two are linked hoping to have a proper look this weekend was just wondering if anyone could help atall?

try resetting the gear linkage, 5 minute job and it can only do good rather than harm.
