8v losing power then picks up?
« on: 07 September 2014, 12:09 »
My golfs been playing up for a while.gona change fuel filter this wk.hopefully thats the source of the problem.whats ur views?

Car has 3" cold air intake from airbox to front lower grill
sparks were changed to iridiums not so long ago
pipercross panel filter
decat sports exhaust

not sure wether any of these were affecting

Im thinking it could be mayb b a timing issue? Or fuel filter? Or injectors?

Well for a start a decat will do nothing in the way of increased performance

whats your engine code?

do you still have lambda sensor (in cat on some engines)? are the intake connections after air flow/mass meter tight?

any faults on vcds? have you checked all senders are working correctly and give sensible readings with measuring blocks?

Have you cleaned out the throttle body?

The last time i cleaned it was about a yr ago.so maybe.

im also thinking it could be the shape in which the 3" diy cold air feed runs like a step shape to the offside front grill.

Could be MAF..... ?? Try unplugging it and see if it runs better without.

Is the pipercross filter the oiled cotton type?

I had this with my 2E 8v after doing the cambelt, manual adjustment on the dizzy and resetting the ecu by unplugging and re plugging seemed to do the job!

I also did everything mentioned above but they made no real difference.

Ive unplugged the maf sensor while running.it did make the engine sound like it was running faster.
read engine error codes.found 3 codes -
02 sensor
Lambda senso
abs speed sensor

i erased all codes went for a drive and read again
abs speed  sensor came back up so ive changed that today.ball ache

It now seems better after deleting codes?
Is this possible
