DTE pedal box
« on: 05 September 2014, 15:05 »
Anyone got one of these for their GTI? Particularly DSG?

Can get one for £150. Was thinking with my stage 1 should make a good combo.

Are they just the same as a tunning box but at the opposite end of the system? i did look at them when i had a Racechip pro for my Seat leon but opted for the tunning box at the common rail. Can you fit these in conjunction with a stage 1 remap?
Audi S1 gone, awaiting 1.5tsi r-line, pan roof, led lights front and rear, active dash, 18" jurva alloys and a dealer fitted Oettinger roof spoiler in tornado red.

Its not a tunning box it just alters the signal shape between the throttle pedal and the ecu changing the way the pedal responds to foot input.

I have watched a few videos on it and cant work out whether i would need it? I mean if i want to go faster i just slam my foot to floor, takes a quarter of a second.....

It would be nice for someone with a MK6 GTI to test one

Had one on my remapped VXR a few years back and it did make it feel quicker. It's like having a sport button. Just sharpens the throttle. Can actually trick you into thinking your car is quicker. I'm probably going to order one next week. I'll let u know if/when I've tested it.

I run one on my MK7 and had something similar on the MK6.
The SprintBooster I had on the MK6 did basically the same job but had less adjustments than the Pedal Box and was nowhere near as well made yet didn't cost that much less.

The Pedal Box is a great mod, those that say "just press the pedal a bit harder" miss the point and have obviously never tried one. It takes all the dead play out of the pedal and makes the car behave more like an old skool GTI - touch the pedal and off it goes rather than feeling like putting your boot in a pile of mush and waiting for the electronic lag to make its mind up what the car is going to do, which is what standard feels like after using one of these boxes.
