Annoying squeaks
« on: 05 September 2014, 14:51 »
For the past month I've had some annoying squeaks from the interior. Having searched vastly for answers I found a fantastic post showing me how to stop the noises coming from the centre console. I removed it, taped up two finger prongs with velvet sided Velcro that slot the bottom console to the middle and hey presto the squeak has gone. However I have notice one last squeak coming from the centre of the dash air vent right near the window. The air vent looks like it should pop out but other people have been saying this part does not extract. Anyone with any bright ideas how to resolve this last squeak? My alternative option I have heard is to spray some hairspray in the area the squeak is coming from. Apparently the oils in conjunction with the stickiness of the hairspray expand the fill the gaps squeaks come from. This works well on squeaky doors at home if you don't have wd40 so may attempt that. The vent for clarification I'm talking about is the window de-mister vent.

The air vent can just be levered out with a thin flat screwdriver,  I had mine out last month to swap it with a Bora one.
