Help installing boost gauge
« on: 05 September 2014, 09:29 »
My new boost gauge arrived yesterday, I went to install it, but wanted to double check where the vacuum line went, I was 100% sure that you put in the pipe coming out of the top of the dv but the post I've read and the pictures if seen are telling me to put it in the pipe from the fuel pressure regulator! Now I'm confused surely putting it here will give you a fuel pressure reading and not a boost pressure reading. Can someone lease confirm this for me thanks.

it will read the same wherever you put it but most people tap in to the line to the FPR

Oh ok, but would you get a better reading coming strait off of the DV? I think that's what I'll do as it looks easier than off of the FPR

That is exactly how I'm going to do mine, had a lil look behind the glove box earlier to see if I could see where pipe would come out. Looks very easy. Is there much difference getting a feed from the do rather than the fpr??

I managed to get the vac pipe the bulk head, all was plumbed in except for the joining up at the dv, cut through the pipe, went to slide the t-piece in and the pipe deteriorated in my hand! Couldn't believe it. This gave me a reason to order some nice new blue vac pipe off of eBay lol. In the mean time if replaced the pipe using a cut off of clear washer pipe as a temporary measure

I would tap into the FPR because its closer to the drivers side, run your tubing toward the coolant bottle and then through the firewall there, some people have run it through the door grommet too, along the top of the dash looks awful (no offence to those that have done it) the people who tend to do it the other way around are LHD cars
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

I thought about taping into the FPR but couldn't see a route through the bulkhead, I know that there's is a grommet somewhere near the white box by the wiper motor but I couldn't see it for the life of me (mind you I didn't take the plastic cover off to have a proper look lol) found it easy enough to go through the grommet to the right of the DV. I might have another look at using the FPR but kinda afraid just I case that hose is knackered as well lol
