Hi,
I've got a mk4 GTTDI130. Totally standard.
There's a massive knocking coming from the rear beam, usually when going over speed humps and potholes. I've recently replaced the shockers, and springs are sound. The trailing arm bushes are shot and definitely need replacing, but when i've been inspecting it the banging appears to come from inside the rear beam.
Just trying to get an idea of what to expect when I drop the beam off - the haynes manual says that the torsion bar is an integral part of the rear beam and can't be replaced/maintained, but from underneath I can see a couple of bolts in the centre of the beam, which says to me you can get at something in there...
Has anyone experienced this type of prob before and tackled it? I'm guessing there must be some bushes in there, but my car parts place hasn't been very helpful at coming up with suggestions.
Grateful of any advice.
Thanks
Jon
