Weird exhaust blow sound after start up *vid*
« on: 31 August 2014, 11:44 »
Only from cold do I get this sound like the exhaust blows... About 10 seconds after start up, also the turbo spool sound increases a lot, and it almost chokes like too much fuel is getting in!!!!

Anyone experience this?

That sounds like its right after the turbo, maybe down pipe...

It's really sus especially when you can hear the turbo spool that loud

Rio, I take it you have checked the downpipe and exhaust for leaks?
have you checked around the turbo / manifold too (is it louder in the bay?)

So sad for you mate because the spec is a monster

Yep!!! But it only happens on cold start up.... Once in the morning and once when I finish work!!! That's what makes it even harder to pin point.

It not so loud after a while but I know something isn't right with it

If it's still running the triangle gasket between manifold and turbo  (K03/K03s type flange)  I will put money on that, if you can get down depending on access on yours put you fingers around where the gasket is and get some on start it up(cold) it gets hot pretty quick so check it quick and be carefull

Its just that the noise, sounds horrendous
I was thinking more the engine side to be honest, have you been hammering it since the remap?

tell me about it... and if you give it a little blip when it sounds like this its like it chokes and nearly stalls!!!

I have done but nothing unusual!!

also at any time if you put it in reverse and blip the throttle whilst reversing, and then put the clutch down and the throttle, the car either dies or the revs just catch before cutting out and go back up to normal.....
