501 red led bulbs for footwell
« on: 30 August 2014, 17:38 »
Am I correct in thinking that interior led bulbs don't throw errors? Ive done a search and I'm asking cause loads say no but there's a few posts on the web that say you can get a error from interior bulbs.

I know you guys and girls will know

That's right, interior lights are not monitored so shouldn't throw up errors but just get canbus error free ones.  It's a nice little mod and gives a lovely subtle effect.  Once fitted you'll need to play about with the % light setting in the DIS to get them as you like them.  I got these but any of the ebay ones will do.

and look like this

This was one of my most favourite mods that I did. You won't regret doing it, no error codes for interior lighting.

I think I've picked the wrong bulb, I picked one that's enclosed which I prefer but it's a single led so might not be as bright. But I'll see.

Out of interest which bulb did you fit?

I originally ordered diode single led bulbs but I think they will be pants so just ordered some SMD 360 degrees bulbs. Should be much better.

I got that kind first off (single enclosed bulb with red plastic cover) and found them both very fiddly to slide into the holder and stay in it, and the light output was way too subtle even when upped to 100%.  In the end I switched and ordered the ones in the link I posted, much easier to fit and far better output.
