19" alloys - any issues?
« on: 30 August 2014, 14:07 »
I'm looking at buying a set of team dynamics imolas in 19". Will these fit my mk6 ok with no issues? With my car being standard, ie not lowered etc will 19" alloys make my golf look like a 4x4?

Anyone have these wheels on there golf, preferably in graphite that could post a pic.

I don't have those wheels but do have 19's.  My car isn't lowered either and tbh I wish it was, as I think 19's do make it look too high.  I can live with it and I I love the wheels and but the height is the one thing I  don't like about my car.  Also the ride is harsher on 19s and this is emphasised if the roads are crap but  it doesn't bother me and the ACC offsets it a bit.

Would you consider lowering it?

I would lower it, yeah. I guess I always have the option of going for 18" which still is an improvement on my 17" standard monzas. Plus the 18" is cheaper than the 19" so that's another positive.

Cheers for the reply.

Don't forget as well as better ride and handling, 18s cheaper on tyres too.  My contisport 5p's set me back £166-£180 a corner.  Had to have 2 new this year £332 fitted....ouch.

I have ordered my new alloys. In the end I went for these as I like the concave aspect.

Got them fitted with maxxis tyres. Think they will look great on my tornado red golf. The red calipers will look nice behind the matt graphite too. I had matt black wheels on my ST. I like the matt wheels on a glossy car it gives great contrast.

What size did you go for in the end?  What colour is your car?  Post some pics when they're on.

Gd choice. These look great. Lowering will improve the look imo.

They look great and will look awesome on the car, which size did you go for? I like a bit of concave aspect on wheels too although at the min I keep getting obsessed with the Watkins Glen Ed35 wheels only to talk myself out of it when I see the price lol
