Bad Water Circulation
« on: 25 August 2014, 11:45 »
Hi Guys ,

Put up a few posts about my mk2 getting hot and have been narrowing it down . I have run the car with the right hand heater matrix hose disconnected just where it does in behind the dash to the matrix , and it appears that on tick over it is not circulating into the matrix just seems to be sat there . As soon as i rev it , it shoots out the pipe . is this a dodgy pump ? had it replaced a little while ago tho .

Thanks
Chris

Did you test to see if your rad fan sensor was working. The car should warm up to temp when stationary and the fan should come on and off to maintain a temp. You can't really see if it's overheating unless the fan works as it's should, you need airflow to keep it cool, either the fan or air over the radiator.

put the pipe back on, take the other matrix pipe off, rev engine till water comes out. re-connect.

Same with the radiator. A right pain to bleed these up. Also fit a blue coolant cap while your there.
