Thinking of getting a mk7 R
« on: 24 August 2014, 13:03 »
Ive been looking at a mk7 R for a while now and has anyone had one or drove one?
I'm thinking it needs to be an auto to make use of the power ?
Also I'll have our mk6 Gti to trade in
2009 09 plate
55000 miles
Fsh
5 door
Acc
Bluetooth
Monza shadows
Red
Would £12000 sound about right to sell it or I'm I being optimistic
Cheapest R I've seen is 29000. Not wanting a balloon payment at the end
Thanks in advance

Jimble over in the mk7 section has had a mk7 GTI and now has a mk7 R. See reply #2 in thread below;

Probably worth looking on Rforum.co.uk too.

Gone but not forgotten;

2007 mk5 Golf GT (2.0 170bhp TDI version); Deep Black Pearl
2002  mk4 Golf GTI (the 150 bhp diesel version); Deep Black Pearl

I'm also very tempted by the mk7 r , but for the money they are going for (just over £30k) you can get a whole load of other beasts!
2008 R32 DBP gone. 2008 GT TDI going 2009 GTI coming soon!

imo the mk7 R only makes sence if you are one of the people who either
 Buy cars on one of there low monthly finance deals and change every 2 to 3 years
Or keep cars for 10 years but this option looking less favourate after seeing issues with modern vws
Mk6 GTI  &  Mk1 GTI
34 years of GTI ownership.

Well I've been offered £9500 trade in  :cry: leaving nearly 19000 of a difference to finance !
No chance that will be happening. I might keep it for another year and buy a mk5 r32 for the short term till the mk7 prices come down

I've just done a cap valuation on your car and assuming you have cloth and its a manual its coming back as £9750 max. £19000 to finance is going to be some hefty repayments.
