PAS Belt stretching??
« on: 21 August 2014, 16:37 »
Fitted a new PAS auxiliary belt about a month ago.. today, it looks loose as hell, far too much play in it, and when turning to full lock i can hear the squeals and crunching of a slipping belt!!

Tried the adjuster on the PAS pump.. its already as far as it will go, no help.

belt seems to be rubbing on its edges as well, slight bit of fraying at the edge of the flat side.

any suggestions?

Contitech belt.. usually decent quality stuff!

Pulleys are worn out and not holding the belt on the V.
Really you need a new set of pulleys, but you can get away with a thicker belt just make sure the radius is slightly bigger so you can get it on.....

Halfords if you are feeling particularly lazy.
Belt width and circ are shown on the back face.

I think you might be right!

theres PAS pump pulley.. one on the crankshaft. and one more that i dont know what its for lol

aircon needs regassing in mine, probably not been done for years.

i know it works though, the air changes smell, and i can hear the aircon pump kick in.

baahhhhh anyone breaking a mk3
