can any1 tell me if an 8v mfa wiper stalk will work on a 16v??

Yes if its from the right year, early pre 90 stalks are different to late ones.  Late MK2s had the hazard switch on top of the steering column, on early ones it was a switch on the dash.

Yeah direct swap on late MK2s, you just have to swap the MK2 hazzard button onto the MK3 stalks.
They will fit earlier models if you swap the ignition switch housing & do a bit of wiring

I was gonna do a mk3 conversion but decided against it. The round stalks didnt look right on a sqare shape dash.

Personal oppinion i suppose. As mine is an early gti it wasnt worth the hastle for something i wasnt sure about in the 1st place.
