Hi, my car has been making an annoying squeeking noise from what sounds like the drivers side when i turn the wheels left or right. It can also occasionally make a clicking noise as well as squeeking if im moving as i turn, though that doesn't happen that often.

Has anyone got any ideas as what it might be? it does it on any surface as far as i am aware

edit - i will try and get a video up of it tomorrow

If your low id take a guess its your ARB rubbing on your driveshaft

clicking is usually CV joint failing

Well I'm  low ish, how low would it have to be?  And as for the driveshaft  wouldn't it click all the time if  I'm turning?

I would also say the CV joint is split / dry or maybe a wheel bearing

It looks like you were correct! i have raised it another centimeter or two, and it doesn't seem to be making any noises, though i only tried it a few times.

I have another problem now though  one side of my golf raised up fine, the cogs didn't take any effort to turn, then when i did the other, i got about half way up, then all of a sudden the cog jammed. i have tried turning both ways but it seems to be well and truly stuck. i cleaned all around it with a compressor, a brush and brake/ clutch cleaner which worked well on the other side, but whatever is stopping this from turning now looks as if its inbetween the cog and the coil. Has anyone got any ideas on how to unjam it?

I knew it would be that ;)

Sounds like corrosion on the coil over thread. try some WD40, soak it in it. my best guess is the coil overs were not greased up before fitting. common error people make.

These definitely weren't greased before fitting, I'll try soaking it with wd40 next time I have the car on the jack, thanks for the help
