best diverter valve for r-tech stage 1 remap?
« on: 03 August 2014, 21:47 »
i had the dv changed when i got my stage 1 remap done at r-tech, i think it was just the latest stock part from VW. just wondered if there were any decent upgraded diverter valves out there? and would it make much of a difference between that and the stock VW part?

Most likely a G revision which is normally adequate.

Many advocate the G revision which has a rubber diaphragm which is supposed to be less prone to splitting and creating a leak than older versions. Guess what, I split a G revision so went back to the D revision which doesn't have a rubber diaphragm. Rolling road results haven't highlighted much of a difference (different days though) and it didn't throw a P0299 code either when scanned despite being split.

GFB do a DV+ product, have a read of this thread: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,70779.150.html

Rev G is cheap and does the job. You just need to treat them as a consumable part (like tyres, brakes or the cambelt) and assume it will probably split at some point and need replacing

I run the GFB DV+, which feels great and should last a lifetime. Other options include a Forge unit but these require servicing I believe.

Stick with OEM parts unless you're thinking of serious power. The stock parts are more than up to the job of stage 2+.
