Marks on windscreen rubbers
« on: 01 August 2014, 21:11 »
I think there was mention of marks appearing on the trims up both sides of the windscreen on here before. Look like water marks after it rains.

Washing the car seems to make them go but they quickly come back. My Audi also suffers too.

What product can I put on the trims to make it permanently stay away?

Any trim dressing will do the trick but you'll need patience and a steady hand as the tend to silicone based, so they'll make greasy marks on ya paint and glass if you haven't.

Don't use Gummi Pflege.  As Ginge says it'll make a mess on the glass but at the first spot of rain, it'll run it all over the paintwork.

I've read a few threads about these rain stains on the window rubbers on the mk7 and seen some worrying photos.  Cost cutting?  Doesn't happen on the mk 6 rubbers.

Trim dressing just washes off with the first shower. Need something to seal it.
