I'd like to know which format works please? I have an iPhone 5 and can't get any video files to play, either ones I've ripped and can play in the video app on the phone or ones downloaded direct from iTunes. I've downloaded the free 'man on the wire' film from iTunes and it won't play. The cms just reports 'no suitable video files'. Would really like to get it working so any help appreciated.
The 3GS will be running ios 6 or earlier whereas my iPhone 5 is ios7, maybe that's an issue?

Is it really worth bothering?

I reckon the screen on my iPhone is almost as big as the screen on the standard CMS... and it is better quality... if I want something bigger, I can use my iPad... why the need to feed the video to the screen in the car?

My understanding is....Lightening cables don't work. So it's not possible from the i phone 5. END

Therefore it's a iPhone 4 or earlier, video format needs to be MP4 and you need a red banded cable

The whole playing video thing is a bit pointless tbh. I tried playing a DVD for a few minutes when i first got the car and initial reaction is that this is so cool but ive never used it since. Under what circumstances are you actually going to sit in the stationary car for any length of time to watch a video?

When the Mrs insists on just popping in to the supermarket on the way home.

1. There is no such thing as a woman "just popping in to a supermarket". Its like us just popping out for "A" pint!!

2. There is no way I'd park my car in the car park so find a spot in the corner and continue watching from where I left off.

Its amazing though how many times I've seen me quickly starting up the engine and moving on as a transit van / great dirty big 4x4 / most bashed car you've ever seen (delete as necessary) tries to park beside me with hundreds of other spaces free!!!
