Black MK1 GTI have the decals around the tailgate window? Mine hasnt and if it should I can source some so id like to know.

mine doesnt, but they may have been taken off! i think it looks better without on a black car!  :smiley:

There's been HUGE debate over this on MK1 Golf Owners Club (www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk)

It had been confirmed that black M1's DID NOT have the black stickers around the rear hatch, only the silver stripe across the bottom edge. Think this was verified not only from original owners of non-restored black cars but original VW sources too?

Maybe retro fitted?? Think it's one of those personal taste things - IMO I don't think it looks out of place on a black car - offers a bit of contrast to the tailgate
