GTI in Tornado Red or Limestone Grey?
« on: 26 July 2014, 10:50 »
Hi

1st World problem here

Does anyone have any picks of GTI in Limestone as i want to see the red accents on the limestone as I'm not sure if it will look good or not.

I Placed an order for a Red GTI PP 3 Door and at the present time its showing as "with the factory" no build week confirmed. Could i change the colour?

Thanks in advance

Limestone grey devides opinion more than most, in some lights it looks amazing, not so much in others! Looks great in these pictures imo:

You should be able to change the colour up until it's confirmed for build.

Link below shows a Limestone Grey GTI that shows off the red accents. If you do a Google search, you should find plenty more. I think it looks good in Limestone Grey, although colour choice is always subjective

See the FAQ section on VW's website - first question under the 'with the factory' section regarding changing your order. I would think you'll still have time to change the colour, but check with your dealer.

Thanks, i have downloaded a ton of limestone and carbon grey from google, including the other colours and just cant decide. I just got an email back from the dealer and they can change it no prob.

so its just a case of stick with the red which is ok, but as i wasn't inspired by any colour i thought i may as well have a free one. Now I'm not so sure about the red lol.

the limestone is an odd colour i must admit, it has a beige gold tint which in sun light puts me off a little, in some ways the default solution is popular white (just sold a white car and don't want another even if it does look good) or the Carbon grey. But I'm not sure on the CB due to the reflective green tint it seems to have in some lights and its very dark... Arrgghh

After I ordered I agonised just as you are - should I change mr LSG order or not? Will it look beige? Should I change to carbon? I held my nerve, stuck with limestone, and I don't regret a thing - it look fantastic all the time, the red badges look super on it and I've been stopped by people 4 times to complement me on it - something that never happened to be before in 25 years of motoring! Stick with it mate!!!

Hey,

long time lurker, but new poster here...

Go for the LSG, its an amazing colour an no pictures do it justice.

The colour changes depending on the light conditions from dark almost matte grey to a bronze/yellowish silver.

I ordered mine in LSG and I dont regret it at all. So far everyone has complimented me for the choice even my friends who called me crazy for buying a car in "old man´s silver". :)

Attached some pics which might help with your decision.

White, Black, CSGM and Red are way to common in Germany and I yet have to see another Limestone GTI.

Definitely stands out!

Greetings from Germany!

I know what you mean about the Carbon Grey having a greenish tint in the pictures and videos but having seen a few in the flesh it never does it.

They should have called it Sandstone instead of Limestone grey imo.

Hi well I've ordered red at this point but thinking of LSG or CG. i saw an LSG recently on the web and thought wow it looked nothing like i expected. I had completely dismissed LSG as a 50+ year old drivers colour, but it looked great on the mk7 R, from that i thought about LSG and CG  i will post the pics. Negative feedback on LSG is also welcome i can take it

@suklpm do you have any pics of your car?

I got a limestone GTI on order, I'm hoping it will be as practical as the mountain grey colour I had on my Tiguan. I don't have time to wash the car every week!

I saw one at the dealers and and an R in the same colour, does appear that it has a hint of bronze in it but also it seems to reflect the colours around it.
