The rear badge is slightly wonkey so wondering if its a case of popping the badge off and replacing but straight or isit the handle that is wonkey?

Also wanna fit my jvc double din in place of the standard head unit so wondering what i will meed facia panel wise and connector block wise ?

Cheeky pic after a wax and polish yesterday

Welcome to the mk5 world. In terms of the rear badge, I think you can gently prise off the badge but be careful as it's weak and prone to cracks/splits.

For the audio question, check out a good online supplier (www.caraudiodirect.co.uk off the top of my head) and see what they offer (there is a section for fitting accessories specific to Volkswagens).

Also, get a remap...

Okay cheers just struggling to find a badge to replace my old one as i dont wanna re use it, all i can find on ebay is a carbon wrapped one.

Will try the audio website hopefully be an easy enough swap. Watched a few youtube vids and all the centre console has to come out.

Yeah planning on a custom remap eventually what mods would you recomend to go with the remap and what sort of gains do people get ?

Cheers jake

A remap on its own (stage 1 as its called) will net you 40bhp as a rough guide. Compliment that with a performance air filter (Pipercross or K&N for example), a stainless steel cat-back exhaust and a revised diverter valve (common to fail so worth checking/replacing) along with a custom map could see up to 60bhp increase. With the extra bits, its often referred to as stage 1+ (like my own GTI).

Don't worry too much about intercoolers and full induction kits until you're going stage 2, which is a bit more of a grey area...

Hope you got your audio sorted. If not, having done a swap myself, be gentle with the dash trim and keep all screws safe!

Gonna go for a milltek catback keeping the standard cat in and just an upgraded panel filter. You reckon ill still see 260bhp after the remap? Gonna get that revised recirc done too

Out of the country at the mo but hoping to tackle the stereo once i get back haha. Cant stand just using cds anymore

Power gains vary from engine to engine. My girlfriend had almost exactly the same mods as me, but she saw 5bhp less and 20 torque less than my GTI. If you bank on seeing a 50bhp increase then you shouldn't be disappointed.
