Fault codes after changing can gateway
« on: 23 July 2014, 21:01 »

Hi everyone,

Got another question about the MK5....I upgraded the can bus gateway to a newer revision to allow me to run an RCD510 without having battery drain problems. I swapped it over and coded it in fine, everything works ok but I've got an issue with rear fog and reverse lights.

These are the codes I'm getting:

Quote
Address 08: Auto HVAC        Labels: 1K0-907-044.lbl
   Part No: 1K0 907 044 AB
   Component: ClimatronicPQ35 066 0404
   Shop #: WSC 00000 000 00000
   VCID: 67DD5D1756980F26359-8032

3 Faults Found:
01299 - Diagnostic Interface for Data Bus (J533)
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation - Intermittent

00797 - Sunlight Photo Sensor (G107)
010 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent
00709 - Sunlight Photosensor 2 (G134)
010 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent

Obviously the second 2 can be ignored.

Also this:

   Component: RegenLichtSens 005  0605
   Coding: 00218142

2 Faults Found:
01502 - Bulb for Rear Fog; Left (L46)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
01519 - Bulb for Back-Up Lights; Right (M17)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

From the digging that I've done online it appears that the new gateway needs to be coded to a RHD car, I've tried this in the coding for the gateway module (ticking the RHD box). It says coding accepted, but if I go out of the module and back in it still shows the old coding. Any ideas?

Finally, I let the battery run flat when messing with the coding (rookie error!), and since have had this fault code as well which won't clear:

                    Absolute Pres.: 1000.0 mbar
                    Voltage: 9.271 V

Will that go away with time?

Cheers

I had some coding that would not change (well it would but jump to old like yours) and haven't had the issue since buying a proper cable.

Where all my moneys went.
