engine cooling fan fault HELP

Hi all, new to the vw golf owners club. i have a golf 2L gti and for some reason the engine cooling fan will not turn off after the engine is cool and it should have shut off, this continues until the battery is totally flat the tempreture is never high so im not sure its that only way ive been able to stop the fans is buy disconnecting battery at the moment does anybody or can anybody help me with this the cars done a fair few miles but ive always said vw's will go on for ever, is the a common fault easy fix etc etc, ive not long had the car and think its great to drive and would rather get it fixed thanks for your time

Sounds very much like a possible relay problem. Replace the fans relay.

Sounds like a mk3 Golf with AC? -I think some of the Mk4s have similar
If it is, its probably the fan controller that sits under the expansion bottle that's goosed.

Until you get it fixed, just unplug your fan when you know you are going to stop for a while.
