Booked in for inspection - DSG problem?
« on: 09 July 2014, 11:57 »
Hello all,

After 3 months or so of having a lot of fun, over the last few weeks a problem with the DSG gear box in my Golf GTi MK6 has got me that annoyed that I've got booked it in for inspection (cars under VW warranty).

The problem: Bunny hopping when letting foot off brake in first and reverse, in-decisive decisions in the low gears.. Its the worst in traffic - if I was to let my foot off to creep it would judder, and it does this to the point where passengers comment on the judder.. Its a noticeable problem.

I have seen on threads that VW recalled some cars with DSG gear boxes.. Has anyone experienced any similar issues? And if so, did you end up getting it sorted?

I hope its nothing too serious, especially a couple of months after VW had to fork out 1k to get an injector fault sorted

Cheers! GTIOxford

What year car and when is it due next service?  Does it happen in all driving modes, drive, manual, sport etc?  Maybe needs software update?

Not had any significant problems with dsg, except jerkiness in sport mode in 1st and 2nd gear, mainly when accelerating from standstill  and decelerating to a halt.  However since its 2nd service (18k miles) last week, this has been resolved and it's now jerk free.

Best to get it looked at.

Aside from the oil change, no.  No mention of any dsg software update, so I'm putting it down to the oil change.  Sport mode jerkiness has completely gone, and it feels keener in drive mode also.

Just engine oil change.  DSG oil change is at 40k miles

You having issues with DSG?  Here's list of what was done on 2nd service if it helps (under service plan).

Ta.

I knew it was 40k, just checking.
Must be the smoother running engine that makes gear changes better

Mine is a bit notchy on downshifts compared to my previous dsg car (07 ed30), this one has more engine brake on downshifts, might get them to check it and change the oil if its no better after its service.

I have this hesitation on slight hills, where nothing will happen for half a second then a huge lurch and it'll just go, will go for software after a dsg oil change, seems easy enough to do anyway

Thanks for the replies guys.

My car is on 45k, 59 plate.

Had a Gear box oil change, and a engine oil change when I bought it was 43k. Had ANOTHER engine oil change at 44k after a injector problem.

So everything should be in tip top shape, and it isn't. In for an inspection on the 23rd.. I'll ask about software update just to be sure.

Thanks

I know this is a few months old this thread but did you get the gearbox sorted as mine is in for an inspection today and have been told it could be the mechatronics unit so curious as to what else could be done
